In May of 2011, I discovered something amazing: I CAN PAINT!!! Not only can I PAINT, I’m TALENTED! I’m even GIFTED, I am told! More than that, though, I’m MYSTIFIED!

You see, I’ve never had a painting lesson, and my artist friends all tell me not to ever enroll in any kind of instruction.

Many artists paint what IS. I paint what ISN’T – and then, IT IS! I am a free-form abstract artist.

My paintings are already bringing well being, peace of mind, tranquility, and right-brain stimulation to patients of all ages and conditions, including Alzheimer’s, all over the country and in Canada, France, Spain, New Zealand, and Thailand!

Here's what is mystical: I don’t DELIBERATELY paint ANY “THING” at all! As the paint dries, marvelous beings appear: Spirits, sprites, people, animals, all sorts of symbols.

Do you see the lovely dancing lady holding what looks to be an Easter egg? This painting was done on Good Friday, 2012! How many other images can you see in just this one tiny view of a 4" x 4" ceramic-tile painting?

This is what happens with each and every painting I do, but I have little to do with it! I call it Spirit Art, and I am the willing conduit for Spirit's beautiful messages!

Here is one of my favorites:

People of all ages discover these faces and beings as they look at each painting. Kids love to find these, and so do I. You can turn my paintings in any direction at all and see something new and different each time you look!

Because the "detail" of each painting is a painting all by itself, I have over 70 images from six paintings, and each one has its own story to tell and its own being to be discovered. I call these detail views "little visitors who have come to pay a call". 55 of these special images, my favorites, comprise my art-card deck. There is a rabbit, an eagle, a bearded snowman, an Asian warrior, and devas of all shapes and sizes. An endless array of characters parades across each canvas!

In 2011, I gave away over 100 sets of glossy, full-color art cards, and I will do the same in 2012. My art cards are bringing comfort, upliftment, and a lot of joy to people all over the world, in an array of countries including New Zealand, Thailand, Spain, France, and many of the United States of America.

Here is a quote about how one woman with advanced Alzheimer's responded to my art cards:

"Mom was TOTALLY MESMERIZED by the Discovery Art Cards! She looked at each one, traced the images with her finger, looked and looked, and even though she is usually tuned into MUSIC, the cards had her full, alert attention in spite of the Lawrence Welk music playing!!! She gave me the brightest smile, and she was peaceful and fully present. Sheila, you have hit the nail on the head about activating the right brain! I was moved and delighted to see her respond this way." Dan D.
